Is Coding Going To Die 💀 Because Of No-Code Tools 🤔

In our programming world, we are currently hearing about something called “No-Code”. It’s a way to develop websites or apps without writing any code.

Is it good? Are programmers no longer required? Should I stop learning programming? Lets find out.

Is it good ?

From a entrepreneur’s perspective, no-code tools seems to be handy to quickly build their idea into real world.

From programmer’s(real) perspective, no-code tools are just annoying time consuming GUI. Just like linux users mostly prefer terminal over GUI, real programmers prefer coding over no-code tool.

What do I think about it? I, an entrepreneur, think no-code tools are good for showing people(investors & early partners) what your idea may look like, you know like presentations. But when times comes to actually develop it, I always prefer actual coding.

WHY ? First of all, no-code tools(good) are not free of cost. Many no-code tools allows you to develop/design locally for free but when you want to share it or launch it you have to pay upfront.

Another problem is apps or websites built on no-code tools are always heavier then their coded counterpart. It will take long time to load. I don’t know if you have encountered this problem or not, but I have noticed it.

Another problem is, you don’t have control over your app. If the no-code tool/platform decides to inject some adware or cookie of their own, you can’t do anything to stop it.

So, in my opinion →

Are programmers no longer required?

You may ask, if everyone is ok with no-code tools and its performance, then programming (actual) career is finished. NO it’s not.

Not only no-code tool is going to replace programmers, it is actually going to increase programmers demand.

I say it because I know a secret. No-code tools are good at making e-commerce platforms or blogging websites. Hundreds of plugins/extensions are given to you for you ease. But let’s say, you want to build something different, something complex. For example, let’s assume you want to build a hotel booking site or stock trading platform. Umm I think you can’t.

Should I stop learning programming?

You know the answer → you shouldn’t stop learning ever.

I don’t know about you, but when I started programming, I always dreamed about building something great with my skill. In current situation I don’t think this great dream is going to be completed by some no-code tool.

All this is my personal opinion and yes I am biased.
